#Gilbert7 Decision: Not Guilty for 2 and Hung Jury for rest

Hey PWB members and friends:

JURY DECISION!! We JUST got news that the Detroit #Gilbert7 trial in Detroit for the MI Poor People’s Campaign protest actions on June 18th for charges of “obstructing a street car” were decided by the jury: Not Guilty for Rev Wylie-Kellermann and Richard Levey; and a hung jury-mistrial for the remaining 5 defendants: Marian Kramer, Sister Barbara Beesley, Tommy Tackett, Yexenia Vanegas, and Greg Olszta. More info will be available at 3pm.

PRESS CONFERENCE: We’re preparing for a 3pm press meeting TODAY with the defendants, one or more NLG attorneys AND the foreperson of the jury. It’ll be at Central United Methodist Church (Woodward/Elizabeth, adjacent to Comerica Park). PLEASE ATTEND and TAKE SIGNS & banners, especially those that reflect the messages from the June 18th action: QLine, Dan Gilbert, corporate profits on back of poor, water shutoffs, education, transportation; and take PPC banners.

We’ll have some snacks and warm drinks on the 4th floor at the MWRO office at 2pm.
